Mr. Charlie Smith, 6th Grade Assistant Principal

I am excited to work alongside the students, parents, and staff in the Hairston Jagar community. This will be my first year serving as an Assistant Principal at the “H” and my 7th year in school leadership. I look forward to learning and growing with our students.

A native of LaGrange, NC, I earned a bachelor's degree from Elon University where I majored in History/Pre-Law with a minor in music. Upon graduating, I pursued a successful career in retail with Bed Bath and Beyond before returning to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where I earned a master’s degree in education. I have served as a Social Studies teacher and athletic coach at both Northern Guilford and Swann Middle School. I was selected to participate in High Point University’s second Leadership Academy Cohort where I obtained a master’s in educational leadership. When I’m not in school, I enjoy golfing, drumming and motorcycle riding. I also love spending time with my wife and two children, Elena (13) and Charlie (10).
